Knowledge Sharing Network
As the need for rapid access to relevant information continues to grow at astonishing rates, we will continue to seek new and innovative means of utilizing electronic and paper information; but more importantly, we will work to build a network that identifies, captures, and communicates knowledge. The Lindy Boggs National Center for Community Literacy is currently in the process of developing a Knowledge Sharing Network. The focus of this network will not be on collecting, organizing and storing information, but on sharing information and resources with the community. Our success will be measured not by the number of resources we acquire, but by the quality and usefulness of the information that is identified, and the knowledge that is shared.
Our goal is to develop a community network willing to engage in knowledge sharing that will be responsive to the needs of all community members. Each participant will function as both a provider and a recipient of information and knowledge. In an effort to ensure that this takes place, the Boggs Center will begin by coordinating a series of semi-annual exchanges in which members of the literacy community will have the opportunity to share their recommendations, questions, and concerns regarding the development of the network. The information shared in these sessions will assist us in the evaluation of current information services, and the identification of future information sources and services.
